The Orange County Auto Show has come and gone, and if you didn’t make it you missed some nice rides. Not to worry, we’ve been covering the show and are still uploading photos from the event.
Below are photos of the 2010 Lotus Evora, which the British automaker says is the world’s first mid-engine, 2+2 seater. The sports car was delivered to its first owner last month in the U.K., and should be arriving here in California in the coming months.
Among the traits that make this car stand out is the fact that it’s the first new car from Lotus since 1995, the Elise being the last.
It features a Toyota-derived 3.5-liter V6 engine that makes 276 horsepower. That’s not huge, but when you consider the car only weighs 2,976 pounds, that should be some very quick performance (reports are saying sub-5 seconds for a 0-60 run and top speed of about 160 mph). Pricing hasn’t officially been announced, but Edmunds is estimating a $75,000-$85,000 price when it arrives in the U.S. this winter.
Lotus says it has engineered this car to be more comfortable and convenient than of Lotuses past, and says it will even accommodate a driver up to 6-foot-5.
The two back seats appear to be a joke, however, and even Lotus says they are only intended for “children or small adults.” Another version of the Evora is to be made that features only two seats and uses the rear as a bench.
The trunk is tights at 5.7 cubic feet, but Lotus says it can still hold a set of golf clubs.
Check out the photos (click to enlarge) and weigh in: Will the Evora be a hit or miss for Lotus?
