Talk about a rare truck! Our latest Totally Hot Car is this 1946 Hudson Model 58 Cab owned by Lance Baroldi up in Temple City.
Here’s what Baroldi has to say about his truck:
“There were just over 3,100 built that year, which included Cab Chassis and Cab Pickups. Of those, just over 2,500 were registered.”
If you’ve never seen one of these trucks, you’re not alone. According to Baroldi, there aren’t many left.
“Through the Hudson register there are just over 100 listed worldwide still around,” he says.
“An estimated 100-125 are not listed in the registry. It took me just over three years to restore. I have owned it now for just over five years.”
Thanks for sharing your truck and story with us, Lance: Your car is Totally Hot!
Do YOU have a Totally Hot Car (or truck?) Find out how to get it featured!
Why is this trash in here as a “hot” car - a freakin Hudson, are you kidding me?????
Sam: “Hot” must be in the eye of the beholder. When you consider the condition of this truck and its rarity, it certainly qualifies in my opinion. And of course you are welcome to submit your own car, so we can compare its subjective “heat.”

I drive a Porsche similar to the 968 you profiled here before.
I am not a classic American car fan, however, I can respect and understand calling a old vette, mustang, cuda, etc. as a “hot” car, but this Hudson is not “hot” at all.
You may as well just profile any car, how about a 1996 Ford Taurus?
You lose creditability when you profile cars like this as Hot (in my opinion).
Maybe if said Taurus were an SHO…

Wow Sam!
I have owned a Porsche, a MB SL, a Camaro, and various other cars which I think were all hot. I think this section is great to feature various rides of readers, which I have seen all types here. I thank Matt for his well done job here and for his comments.

Matt, thanks for including this super rare piece. I just came across this feature and the cars and I think they’re all great.
I never knew Hudson made a pickup, and this one has some great lines.
It’s also beautifully restored. It’s not a fast coupe, but it’s still “Hot.”
Thank you for the kind words, Dave, and I’m glad you enjoy this feature. Spread the word to other aficionados out there!
