Any time a car is stolen, it’s a horrific experience for the owner. But for Fullerton insurance agent Henry Jones, this past weekend’s theft of his 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid went far beyond just a car being taken: In the car were priceless items left behind by his late wife, Vi.
Among the items in the car were a Bible that he and his wife read together and took around the world, as well as wigs that Vi wore during her seven-year battle with cancer. The wigs were going to be delivered to a hospital for other cancer patients.
According to a story written by my colleague Barbara Giasone, the car was stolen sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday at 120 W. Commonwealth Ave. while Jones was working in the back of his downtown office.
Other items in the car were a valentine from his wife, a camera and T-shirts meant for a charity.
Jones is offering a $1,500 reward for return of his cherished items.
The car is dark gray with license plate number is 5ZXF380. Anyone with information about the car theft is asked to call Jones at 714-526-3344 or 714-743-8050.
