Recall issued for child safety seats

October 30th, 2009, 3:53 pm · Post a Comment · posted by Matt Degen

The National Highway Traffic & Safety Administration has issued a recall for certain child seats made by Mia Moda and manufactured by Lerado Success Inc.

In all, 5,540 Mia Moda infant/child restraints and bases, models Viva and Viva Supreme, are being recalled due to sharp edges that can cut the harness and the possibility of the base cracking in a crash. The NHTSA warns that, “In the event of a crash, the child may not be adequately restrained, thereby increasing the risk of injury.”

Model numbers affected are:

  • 5000 (seat)
  • 5001 (base)
  • 5050 (seat)
  • 5051 (base)
  • 5070 (seat)
  • 5071 (base)
  • 5080 (seat)
  • 5081 (base)

If you have any of these products, you are urged to immediately stop using them.

See Mia Moda’s recall page.

Lerado says it will give registered owners a full refund, and official notices are to begin going out in November. If you have further questions, you can call the company’s free hot line at 877-546-8437.

Again, if you have one of these products, you are urged to stop using it immediately.
