Nissan recalling over 360,000 cars due to possible engine stall

The 2007 Nissan Murano

Nissan and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are recalling 362,891 Murano SUVs from model year 2003 to 2007 due to a potential problem with their air-duct intakes that can cause the engine to stall and lead to a crash.

The report’s warning states that “the intake air ducts, which are connected to the intermediate resonator in the air intake system of the engine, may separate from the resonator with engine movement. This separation occurs due to the premature aging of the material used in the intake air ducts which causes excessive shrinking.”

Letters regarding the recall will be sent to owners starting the first week of July. Owners are advised to wait until they receive notice before bringing in their vehicles, since recall information may not be updated at dealerships before then.

If you have questions prior to receiving notice, you can call Nissan’s recall hot line at 800-647-7261.

Just think when Obama’s new mileage standards are enacted how unreliable cars will be…AGAIN. Like the early 80s cars when CAFE standards were started in the late 70s. Buy a new one now or keep your clunker if you don’t want an over engineered piece of junk.

An engine stall does not lead to a crash, it just merely leads to coasting to a stop.
